Studio Solstone Pike Place Market Calendar 2021

SKU

Looking forward to 2021? So are we!

Get organized with this great visual calendar that is accessible by everyone in the family, and with a single glance can quickly remind you of the birthdays, anniversaries, meetings, events and activities you have coming up in your busy schedule.  With this calendar, you’ll be ready to make the most of every day in 2021!

Be inspired and let your mind travel visually through northwest vignettes courtesy of Sarah Yaeger’s distinctive and detailed watercolors.  Her work lets you discover the nuances and iconic character found in every scene — from being able to count the crabs and lobster tails at North Arcade to the detailed totem poles at Occidental Park. The 2021 calendar collection finds Sarah painting her way around the Northwest with stops at Alki Beach and Bainbridge Island, as well as a visit to Port Angeles and Sumner...wherever inspiration takes her.  Sarah’s artistic eye remains focused on celebrating the beauty and life of Pike Place Market (celebrating its 114th year of operation).  The annual Daffodil Day in the Market is the perfect example of the spirit of Pike Place.  Every year 9,000 daffodils grown by market farmers are handed out around downtown.  Talk about personally delivering much needed beauty to this world!

Calendar includes the Pike Place Market Merchant salute to Seattle's Sister Cities, a sampling of Seattle Center Events, and date blocks are annotated with holidays, historical dates, moon phases and more throughout the months. Size closed: 9¼" (h) x 12"(w). Order yours today!

About The Maker

About Studio Solstone

(Seattle, Washington)

“Studio Solstone” was created in the 1970’s by artists Michael and Sarah Clementson Yaegar in the small town of Altea, on the Costa Blanca, Spain.  For 8 years the couple documented local scenery and sold their art products in weekly markets along the Spanish Coast, including stones they gathered and painted from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.  Thus the name “Solstone” or Sun-Stone was born.

In 1979, with children Mercedes and Antonoy, the Yaeger's moved to Seattle (where Michael had been raised) to work and live in the largest indoor/outdoor market in the U.S.A., “Pike Place Market”; it is also the oldest continuously operating marketplace. There are over 600 businesses operating in their 7 historic acres. Studio Solstone Ltd., is located in the Atrium of Seattle's Pike Place Market (behind DeLaurentis, and to the left of Pike Place Fish).

For twenty-five years Michael served as “honorary mayor” of Pike Place Market, a title bestowed upon him by then state governor Mike Lowry (in office from 1993 to 1997). This calendar has been their annual creation since 1982 and remains a testament and documentation of the growth and appeal of this beautiful area of the Northwest. Although Michael passed away in 2016, Sarah continues painting watercolors and to be inspired by the market and carries on the calendar tradition.
