* Girl Meets Dirt - Barrel Aged Peach Tree Bitters

SKU
8-08522

Just named a 2020 Good Food Awards Finalist! Girl Meets Dirt bitters are an exquisite example of their evolution - from the roots to the buds to the blossoms to the fruit and all the bits left behind, they’ve made something anew. As naturally made as it can get, they macerate all the wee sticks and stems and pits left behind from their preserving process in a locally distilled apple spirit and age them in a barrel used by the same local spirits maker, Orcas Distillery.

Their Peach Tree Bitters highlights the simplicity of the whole fruit, and the surprise flavor a humble pit can provide. We tease out the flavor with orchard aromatics (dandelion root and Madrona wood) and let an apple brandy barrel and time do the rest. Barrel aged, floral, sweet and bitter, with no added sugar or artificial flavors, enjoy it alone dashed in to sparkling water, or adorning our shrub based old fashioneds. Dash it in any cocktail recipe requesting bitters. Cheers to the fruit and back! 1.69 oz

ingredients:  alcohol, peaches, peach pits, peach tree wood, aromatics

50ml / Contains alcohol / 40% abv

Handmade on Orcas Island

About Girl Meets Dirt

(Eastsound, Orcas Island, Washington)

Just shy of 10 years in Manhattan,  Audra Lawlor walked away from a Wall Street career and convenient city life with her  new husband Gerry and two dogs to head West, and start their own (island) Western story.  They landed on Orcas Island, and Audra noticed the heirloom orchards and their fruit not being used. She started making jams, and preserves and Girl Meets Dirt was born.  It is essentially a onewoman show with tremendous support from her husband. Lawlor sources all her fruit from the San Juans, exchanging pruning work for the Bartlett pears from her neighbor’s trees and offering islanders a place to sell their Italian plums or crab apples each fall. She travels to nearby Guemes Island to purchase quinces that make their way into her quince marmalade. Now fruit finds her through word of mouth. If you visit their shop, they offer informal tastings on a daily basis and welcome you to come by during business hours, to see what's cookin', and shop the full lineup of Girl Meets Dirt preserves - including limited edition goodies from their Small Batch Reserve Collection.
