Daffodils

Daffodils. Narcissus. Jonquil. Whatever name you choose to call them, you can't help but smile at their cheery yellow, white and orange trumpets that promise spring will be here soon!
The Daffodil Festival celebrates its 77th year, and the theme for 2010 is "Carousel of Spring." Parades and festivals take place throughout March and April, in various cities in Washington.
Daffodil fields are also in bloom through Skagit Valley, and bring a bit of sunshine when the skies are grey and gloomy.
The World Comes to the Northwest
With the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, visitors from all over the world are adding a stop in Seattle and other parts of Western Washington to their itinerary.
In our Made In Washington stores, meeting people from all over the world is always a fun part of our jobs, and right now it is particularly high gear. At the beginning of the month we hung a map in our downtown store, and have been asking people to place a pin to indicate where they are visiting from.
In addition to many visitors from all across the US, we’ve been thrilled to meet visitors from 56 other countries so far --- in just a little over two weeks! We’re looking forward to this continuing all month as the Olympics remain in full swing and the world comes to the Pacific Northwest.
If you live locally – or if you are visiting our area for any reason – stop into our downtown store and place your pin on our map!
Bald Eagles on the Skagit River

Each winter the Skagit River becomes home to hundreds of Bald Eagles.
The ideal viewing of the Skagit River Bald Eagle is on Highway 20 between the towns of Rockport and Marblemount, Washington.
From November thru early February the eagles stop along the Skagit River on their migratory trip from Alaska and coastal British Columbia to rest and feed on salmon.
Snow Geese in the Skagit Valley

The Skagit Valley attracts thousands of snow geese and trumpeter swans who like to winter in the valley because of the mild climate and availability of food. Flocks of snow geese can be seen along the roads west of I-5 thru the Skagit Valley to La Conner.
This picture was taken on Saturday, January 23rd just outside of Conway
